Zero Tolerance for Underage DUI
Experienced Defense for Underage Drinking Offenses
The State of Colorado takes a hard line on drinking and driving if you are under the age of 21. You face the same criminal penalties as an adult of legal drinking age – and the administrative license sanctions are more severe.
The Gasper Law Group offers experienced and aggressive defense for underage DUI and all alcohol-related offenses. Contact us immediately at 719-227-7779. Our Colorado Springs attorneys practice in El Paso County and surrounding jurisdictions. Our clients have included Air Force Academy cadets and other military personnel.
Under 21 DUI/DWAI
Colorado’s drunk driving law sets a blood-alcohol content threshold of .02 BAC for drivers under 21. This means you can be penalized for having any alcohol in your bloodstream at the time of arrest:
- Instead of the 90-day license suspension for an adult DUI, under 21 violations are punished by the Colorado DMV with a 1-year loss of license.
- Depending on your measured intoxication level, you may also face criminal charges of DWAI (.05 BAC) or DUI (.08 BAC).
If you have been cited for Zero Tolerance, we will fight your license suspension. We understand that you need your car to get to school or work or for military duty. You must request a DMV hearing within seven days of the citation or arrest to challenge the suspension or qualify for a “red license” (restricted driving permit).
